This 7 days laboratory is focused on work with local ceramic materials. (EN / DE)
When: 9-16. June 2024 (Registration until 26. May!)
What: We’ll dig clay, we’ll process it, we’ll learn basic ceramics hand-building techniques (pinch pot and coil), we’ll make our own basic ceramic tools and we will glaze our pieces with the glaze we make from ash.
During the lab there is ample time for individual research with the tools and materials in the workshops. There are also two electric throwing wheels and one foot powered one. During the lab there won’t be time for an introduction to throwing on the wheel since we’ve put the focus on the research with the local ceramic materials, however you are free to use them.

Where: 7 Days on GutAlaune, just outside of Halle, next to the river Saale. It’s a project and living space just outside the city that we’re setting up since the beginning of 2016 – so some stuff is a little improvised.
Accomodation & logistics: Sleeping will be in your own tents so please bring tents, sleeping bags, isolation mats and whatever you need to feel comfy outdoors. We have hang out space in case of bad weather, but we hope to be mostly outside.
There is a outside kitchen and lounge area, two outside showers (one hot, one cold) and compost toilets and there is a river right infront the space as well to cool down from the heat. We’ll have a cook preparing delicious vegetarian / vegan meals for us so we can focus full on!
Costs: We’re aiming to make this lab accesible for everyone and have been cutting costs all around. We are confident we can run this with a participant fee of around 380€ (including everything) if we can get a group of around 11 people togehter.
Therefore, to keep the costs down we will contribute tasks like cleaning, washing & cutting veggies among all of us.

Important note: We don’t have a lot / fast WIFI here on site – so make shure you have roaming or get a german Sim Card with internet if you want to stay connected. Also we ask you to check if your personal care products are compostable (check with your producs customer hotline) – we’re running an ecological wastewater system.
